The center is the heir of the French School of Law in Cairo (1890-1956), whose library it partly preserved. CEDEJ is a multidisciplinary research center working on contemporary Egypt from within the humanities and social science (political science, law, economics, geography, sociology, anthropology, contemporary history, etc.).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ESMA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>ESMA<\/em><strong>\u00a0is <\/strong><strong>CEDEJ\u2019s peer-reviewed social science journal. <\/strong>ESMA encourages empirically grounded social science research on contemporary Egypt, Sudan, and other Arab countries. Created in 1990 as\u00a0<em>\u00c9gypte\/Monde Arabe<\/em>,\u00a0<em>ESMA<\/em>\u00a0has recently become a trilingual publication (English, Arabic, and French). The journal\u2019s new name,\u00a0<em>\u00c9gypte Soudan Mondes<\/em>\u00a0<em>Arabes<\/em>, emphasizes the connected histories that bind together the region\u2019s societies through multiple networks and circulations. <em>ESMA<\/em>\u00a0supports field research and publishes the work of junior and senior scholars.
