R\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/strong><\/div>\n
Deim est un quartier au centre de Khartoum, cr\u00e9e par les Britanniques (1949-52) suite au d\u00e9placement d\u2019un quartier pr\u00e9caire. La m\u00e9moire de cette origine coloniale est entretenue par les habitants du quartier, dits \u00ab Day\u00e2ma \u00bb. Ces derniers affichent leur multiethnicit\u00e9, l\u2019urbanit\u00e9 et la modernit\u00e9 pr\u00e9coces, l\u2019esprit d\u2019entraide et les r\u00e9seaux de solidarit\u00e9, par la production d\u2019un \u00ab contre-r\u00e9cit \u00bb qui relie pass\u00e9 et pr\u00e9sent. L\u2019identit\u00e9 de quartier populaire et de \u00ab classe ouvri\u00e8re \u00bb a persist\u00e9 dans le quartier et plus r\u00e9cemment elle est associ\u00e9e \u00e0 un discours qui d\u00e9nonce la restructuration n\u00e9olib\u00e9rale de la capitale. Cette communication se base sur une ethnographie urbaine de longue dur\u00e9e (2008-2019) r\u00e9alis\u00e9e dans le quartier de Deim.<\/div>\n
Barbara Casciarri<\/strong> est docteur en Anthropologie sociale et Ethnologie de l\u2019EHESS, Professeur \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Paris 8, chercheur au LAVUE et au CEDEJ (en d\u00e9l\u00e9gation CNRS \u00e0 l\u2019antenne CEDEJ de Khartoum). Ses recherches en anthropologie politique et de l\u2019environnement se sont d\u00e9roul\u00e9es au Soudan (1989-97 ; 2006\u2013), au Maroc saharien (2000-05), dans le Grand Khartoum et en banlieue parisienne (2015\u2014). Elle a co-\u00e9dit\u00e9 Multidimensional Change in Sudan. Reshaping Livelihood, Conflict and Identities, 2015; Anthropology of Law in Muslim Sudan. Land, Courts and the Plurality of Practices, 2018; \u201cSudan: identit\u00e9s en tension\u201d, Cahiers d\u2019\u00e9tudes africaines 240, 2020; In-betwenness in Greater Khartoum. Spaces, Temporalities and Identities. from Separation to Revolution, 2021). Elle coordonne deux projets de recherche au Soudan: CliMigraForm: Formation \u00e0 l\u2019enqu\u00eate participative sur changement climatique et migrations au Soudan (ADESFA 2020-22) et THAWRA-SuR : Thinking Alternative Worlds Across Sudanese Revolution (ANR 2020-24).<\/div>\n

Summary<\/strong><\/div>\n
Deim is a neighborhood in central Khartoum, created by the British (1949-52) through the displacement of a precarious settlement. The memory of the colonial history is developed by the inhabitants of this neighbourhood, called \u201cDayama\u201d. They stress their multiethnicity, early urbanity and modernity, mutual aid and solidarity networks, through the production of a \u00ab counter-narrative \u00bb linking past and present. The identity as \u00ab working class \u00bb popular quarter persisted in Deim and more recently is linked to discourses contesting the capital city neoliberal restructuring. This pape ris based on a long term urban ethnography (2008-2019) carried out in Deim.<\/div>\n

Barbara Casciarri<\/strong> holds a PhD in Social Anthropology and Ethnology at the EHESS, she is Professor at the University Paris 8, researcher at LAVUE and CEDEJ (d\u00e9l\u00e9gation CNRS at the CEDEJ Khartoum). Her researches in the field of political and environmental anthropology were carried out in Sudan (1989-97 ; 2006\u2013), in Saharian Morocco (2000-05), in Greater Khartoum and in Paris outskirts (2015\u2014). She co-edited: Multidimensional Change in Sudan. Reshaping Livelihood, Conflict and Identities, 2015; Anthropology of Law in Muslim Sudan.
