It explores the extent to which reforms within Egypt\u2019s potable water sector have impacted access to water in informal areas, and uses this to understand the political role played by infrastructure in Egypt, and particularly how it mediates between citizens and the state.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"o9v6fnle cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><strong>Deena Khalil<\/strong> is a development planner and urban sociologist who is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Centre D&#8217;\u00e9tudes et de Documentation \u00e9conomiques, Juridiques et Sociales (CEDEJ), and a lecturer in the Sociology-Anthropology Department at the American University in Cairo (AUC). She holds a Ph.D. in Development Planning from University College London (UCL) and a M.A. in Economics of International Development from AUC.
