Al-tar\u00eeq il\u00e2 al-harb, which has just been published by al-Maraya. She will discuss the current situation in the country focusing on prospects for solutions in 2020. Her presentation will concentrate on internal developments in both the areas controlled by the Huthi movement and those where the different factions connected with the internationally recognised government dominate the discourse. The impact of 5 years of war on the Yemeni people will be at the heart of her presentation. She will also address the role of the main coalition partners and the UN in the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>About Helen Lackner :<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Helen Lackner is Associate Researcher at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and visiting fellow at the European Council for Foreign Relations. She has worked as a consultant in social aspects of rural development in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe. She has spent the past four decades researching Yemen, working in the country for fifteen years. Lackner is the editor of the Journal of the British-Yemeni Society. Her latest books include\u00a0Why Yemen Matters: A Society in Transition\u00a0(editor), Saqi, 2014\u00a0;\u00a0Yemen in Crisis: Autocracy, Neo-Liberalism and the Disintegration of a State, Saqi, 2017\u00a0; its US paperback updated version\u00a0Yemen in Crisis, the road to war,\u00a0Verso, 2019\u00a0; and it has just been published in Arabic Azmat al-Yaman.
